ONE PAGE TOO MANY

At the same time as we were involved in creating musical chaos we were also attacking the world with a fanzine with a great irreverant attitude - "One Page Too Many". Some articles we wrote aimed to expose the elitism and pomposity of some sections of the alternative music scene. This managed to wind people up enough for us to be effectively banned more than once in some key alternative music stores, unless we appologised (yeah as if) - a bit counter productive... but great fun!

Even reading them back now, I don't believe we actually mean any real harm; we just had a biting sense of humour and couldn't resist poking fun at our own world and it's foibles. As an example even the articles written criticising and attacking the ineptitude of "Boys on Heat" were in fact written by me - the lead singer of the band. It seemed like a good idea at the time!

My own favourite section of each issue was the cartoon done by Ian Campbell (the man with no head) - absolutely everything and everyone was fair target for his musings. And as for the gossip column - all totally 100% made up and total bullshit!

OPTM was however split in two camps and the other group involved didn't really get what we were about and their writing to me still appears pompous and self-important. The thought of including musical instrument reviews even to this day make me shudder. Muso bollocks.

In general the writing is really poor though, I can't imagine anyone actually buying it... but some suckers did!
